Portuguese media group Cofina Media has been awarded an online sports betting licence for its Nossa Aposta brand, which will soon launch on Aspire Global’s platform.

The approval means that the Portuguese regulator Serviços de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos has now issued a total of 12 licences across all products, including Cofina's online casino licence last September.

The SBTech-powered sportsbook will be offered through Aspire Global’s iGaming platform, which was recently certified by the Portuguese regulator.

Aspire launched the sportsbook on its own Karamba.com brand in January, with Cofina becoming the first B2B partner to launch the offering.

“We are delighted to launch sportbook with an operator of Nossa Aposta’s calibre,” said Aspire Global chief executive Tsachi Maimon. “As the World Cup approaches, the ability to drive traffic and provide sports betting will be the key to achieving optimal growth in the exciting Portuguese market.”

Shares in Aspire Global plc (STO:ASPIRE) were trading up 2.34 per cent at SEK32.85 per share in Stockholm Tuesday morning.
