London-listed betting technology provider Sportech believes that its presence in the majority of US states leaves it "extremely well-positioned" to stake advantage of the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the federal ban on sports betting regulation.

At the company's Annual General Meeting in London today (Thursday May 24th), chief executive Andrew Gaughan highlighted the opportunities presented by the ruling.

Gaughan said Sportech believes Connecticut, where it owns and operates a network of off-track betting facilities alongside licensed online and mobile betting services, would be an early adopter of sports betting regulations.

"We have been a proactive supporter of legislation to regulate sports betting to combat the spread of illegal activity and to protect consumers," he explained.
