Fantasy sports software provider Fantasy Sports Interactive (FSI) is powering a new site for AfricaBet, a Gibraltar-based operator targeting the continent's iGaming market.

The partnership has seen AfricaBet launch a fantasy football offering to coincide with the FIFA World Cup, which features alongside its core real-money betting product.

FSI ultimately plans to launch a series of games combining skill-based and real-money wagering elements for AfricaBet, helping to improve cross-sell and customer retention, as well as attracting new players.

The initial launch will be followed later this year with the roll-out of a variety of fantasy sports products ahead of the 2018-19 football season, with a National Basketball Association game to follow in October.

"We are proud to be partnering with one of Africa's most innovative and dynamic gaming providers," FSI chief executive Dennis Tsalikis said. "The African market is currently one of the most promising iGaming markets and AfricaBet has a pioneering team with a powerful vision for Africa’s iGaming future and international growth.

"We are excited to be announcing our partnership to the world and we are looking forward to enjoying a long and prosperous collaboration with AfricaBet."

AfricaBet chief executive Brian Makwabarara added: "We always seek to provide the best services, and to do so we partner with the best providers in the world. We are very happy to count FSI among our list of valued Partners, whose integrity, long experience, and superior products will see a successful and long partnership between us."

Founded in 2015, FSI currently operates a proprietary fantasy site, Bet4theBest, as well as powering offerings for Gauslemann Group brands Cashpoint and XTiP.
