The World Poker Tour (WPT) has signed a four-year partnership with GVC-owned global poker tour partypoker LIVE to hold up to seven events across Canada and Europe.

The agreement aims to provide poker players across the globe with more choice of where to play, with each of the new events including a prize pool guarantee of up to €3m.

The first event as part of the new WPT and partypoker LIVE relationship will take place at Playground Poker Club in Montreal in late October and will see WPT500, WPTDeepStacks, and WPT Main Tour events coming together for the first time.

Additional events are scheduled to take place in Sochi, Russia, in February 2019 and at Dusk Till Dawn in the UK in April 2019.

“I’m so pleased to announce our new partnership with the World Poker Tour,” said John Duthie, president of partypoker LIVE. “The WPT has always aimed to put the players first, and that is a mission we strongly adhere to with our partypoker LIVE events.

“Collaborating with the WPT on these additional events across Canada and Europe will allow us to continue to provide players with the tournaments they want across the globe.”

Through the partnership, players will have the opportunity to qualify for the events online at partypoker, with a minimum of 300 seats up for grabs through qualifying promotions from the site. Live streams of the new events will be available from WPT and partypoker LIVE through the My partypoker LIVE app.

“The World Poker Tour is proud to partner with partypoker LIVE on this new, four-year global initiative,” said World Poker Tour CEO Adam Pliska. “The partnership allows the WPT to continue its dedication of bringing world-class poker to people’s lives, and we are honored to have John Duthie and the entire team at partypoker LIVE sharing in this value. Together with partypoker LIVE, we look forward to elevating the game for all levels.”
