British bookmaker Betfred is preparing to go online in Spain after receiving license approval from Spanish gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ).

Betfred will commence operations in Spain as part of its ongoing expansion strategy, having been granted licenses to operate an online sportsbook and casino.

Betfred’s Spanish business will operate from its newly established office in Ceuta, with Seville-based supplier Optima Gaming providing the operator with player account management and sports betting systems.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Betfred and the Spanish license is part of our ongoing expansion strategy,” said Betfred Group chief operating officer Mark Stebbings.

“There is clearly a real passion for sport especially football in Spain and we share that passion here at Betfred. We believe we bring the necessary expertise but also heritage and trust to this expanding market.”
