Shares in UK bookmaker William Hill hit a new 52-week high in London this morning after the company reported a 12 per cent increase in total net revenues for the first quarter of 2012, following strong growth from its sportsbook which for the first time exceeded £50m in turnover in a single week during the period.

In an interim management statement for the first quarter ended March 27th, William Hill said that it benefited from continued strong growth from the company’s William Hill Online (WHO) business and a gross win margin above the normalised and expected range.
