SportzRush enters social sports betting market with predictions game

11th October 2013 8:45 am GMT

SportzRush has released a new predictions game on Apple’s iOS platform, as the company attempts to become the latest operator to crack the social sports betting market.

SportzPicks allows players to challenge friends by predicting the outcomes of over 10,000 regular events, covering a range of sports from more than 40 countries.

For each weekly tournament, users make six predictions based on key events in a sporting fixture, such as final result, scores or sendings-off in a bid to accumulate points and improve their place on a player leaderboard.

The app is powered by data from live data and odds provider Sportradar, and covers American football, baseball, football, basketball, tennis, handball, ice hockey, rugby union and rugby league.

SportzPicks was developed by SportzRush, a start-up founded by Mike Webb and Sabin Brooks.

Before launching the company, Webb served as head of marketing for Gamesys’ social division iwi, having previously run campaigns for Jackpot Joy, while Brooks has worked in a range of senior marketing positions for the likes of PartyGaming, Caesars Interactive and King.com.

It becomes the latest company to attempt to crack the social sports market, where no company has been able to achieve consistent success aside from Top Eleven Football Manager developer Nordeus, the only studio to see its app grow every month since launch.

Nordeus has since partnered with bwin.party’s social games division Win Interactive, with the launch of a new product expected to come in the next month.
