UK gaming operator Gala Coral Group has shrugged off poor football results in the first half of the year and the annualisation of machine games duty (MGD) to post a 9 per cent increase in gross profit for its 2014 financial year.

In preliminary figures released this week, ahead of the publication of the operator’s audited results for the year next Thursday, Gala Coral posted gross profit of £890.1m for the year, an increase of 9 per cent or £74.7 from 2013.
