The state government of South Australia is considering the introduction of a point of consumption tax on iGaming, as part of a wider review of its taxation system.

The point of consumption (POC) tax has been mooted in order to allow the state’s traditional land-based gambling businesses to continue operating in the face of increasing competition from their online counterparts, and to protect the state's tax revenue from such businesses, which is estimated at amount to AUD$500m annually.
