AWC slams South Australia’s proposed point of consumption tax

Operator association the Australian Wagering Council (AWC) has slammed the South Australian government’s decision to introduce a Point of Consumption (PoC) tax on all betting companies offering services in the state, claiming that it was untenable in practice and a major blow for customers, racing and sporting bodies.

Last week the state government announced a budget proposal to apply a PoC tax from July 1st 2017, set at 15 per cent of net wagering revenue.
