The Indian tribal gaming industry generated total gross gaming revenue of US$29.9bn during 2015, with the Washington DC and Sacramento regions representing the two biggest contributors during the year.

According to data released by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), which was based on a total of 474 gaming operations involving 238 tribes, revenue was up 5 per cent compared to the previous year. It is the largest year-on-year increase in ten years following modest growth over the past six years.

The Sacramento region, involving 71 operations across California and Northern Nevada, generated the highest gross gaming revenue (GGR) during 2015 with $7,881.1m, up 8 per cent compared to the previous year.
