US gaming technology supplier International Game Technology (IGT) has launched its Transformers Battle for Cybertron slot as a free-to-play game through its social casino subsidiary DoubleDown Casino.
The real-money variant of the game was originally rolled out in September last year through the supplier’s licensing agreement with toy manufacturer Hasbro, and is now available on DoubleDown’s Facebook and mobile offerings.
The 40-line, five-reel slot features a number of the popular characters from the successful toy and film franchise, including Autobots leader Optimus Prime and his nemesis Megatron.
It features a range of bonus features including IGT’s FreeFall Symbols, allowing multiple wins from a single spin, with winning symbols disappeared and replaced with new ones.
It also comes with a feature that sees Transformers characters appear and blow up symbols to give users a better chance of winning on each spin. A free spins bonus allows users to select a robot to suit their style of play, with different characters allowing players to win bigger multipliers or more spins.
IGT vice president of global interactive marketing John Clelland said the company was “committed” to making DoubleDown more engaging with branded content, adding that he was “thrilled” to launch the slot on the app’s mobile platform for US customers.
“With the release of this unique social slot game, our players can enjoy instantly recognizable, exciting animations, and relive the fun of Transformers from anywhere, at any time,” he explained.
IGT has already launched the Monopoly Plus slot to DoubleDown, also through its partnership with Hasbro, with chief executive Patti Hart describing the game as the most successful to go live in the app.
In January this year the supplier launched three more real-money titles through the Hasbro partnership, with games based on the board games Cluedo, Dungeons and Dragons, and Battleship released in IGT’s first simultaneous online and mobile launch.
