Social gaming giant Zynga has revealed that it is to make the original version of its free-to-play poker product available to players, just over a month after the launch of the long-awaited revamped version of the game.

The company’s vice president of games for its casino franchise, Jon Liu, said that following the launch of the mobile-first product in September, Zynga had been hard at work gathering player feedback on the new variant.

“We value all of our player communities and want you to know that we take the introduction of new products and features very seriously,” Liu explained.

He said that while many players had said that they enjoyed the look and feel of the new Zynga Poker, others had said they missed the “classic design and play style of the original game.”

As a result Zynga is to re-launch the original product as Zynga Poker Classic, with the game to be released for iOS devices in the coming weeks, with an Android launch to follow later in the year.

“We want to fuel your passion for poker, no matter if you want to play the traditional Zynga Poker Classic or experience the innovative new Zynga Poker,” Liu said. “By giving you two poker games, you now have the option to choose how you play.”

Players will be able to switch between games, with profile, play history and chips to be transferred seamlessly between the two variants.

The revamped Zynga Poker was repurposed for mobile devices, changing the player’s perspective at the poker table and featured new animations, a clearer view of a user’s cards and casino floor sound effects.

It features simplified controls to offer a more “tactile” gaming experience when playing on a touchscreen device, and make it easier for users to raise their stakes and buy-ins. The social features have also been updated with a notification system for when friends are playing, and skill-matching technology pairing users with players of a similar ability.

“Our teams remain committed to delivering the high quality experiences you expect across all platforms, and we look forward to sharing more details on the return of Zynga Poker Classic and the ongoing evolution of the new Zynga Poker,” Liu concluded.
