FanDuel chief executive Nigel Eccles has become one of the highest-profile supporters for new controls for the daily fantasy sport (DFS) sector, admitting that the industry has grown to a size where formal, standardised regulation is unavoidable.

Eccles praised proposed regulations such as age and location verification, the segregation of user funds, protection of user information, as well as safeguards against the use of proprietary contest information and third-party audits.

“These are steps I have always advocated for – and now is the time to memorialize them in law for FanDuel and the entire industry,” he said in an email to FanDuel players.
