This week sees new slot releases from developers including NetEnt and Yggdrasil; the first game to be launched under the partnership between Atari and Pariplay; and new content supply deals for Spinomenal and Quickspin.

Swedish casino games developer NetEnt has released When Pigs Fly, a colourful 5-reel, 3-row, 45-line video slot, which includes animation and music that becomes increasingly lively with each spin.

The game features wild substitutions, re-spins and free spins, with 3,125 different winning combinations.

“NetEnt delivers innovative, unique themes and When Pigs Fly is just another example of a game that really stands out from the crowd,” said Simon Hammon, chief product officer for NetEnt.

“With music and animation that amplifies each time the reels spin, the game gets even more exciting as players continue to play.”

Yggdrasil Gaming

Cherry’s Yggdrasil has brought to life one of China’s most popular fairytales with the release of its latest slot, Legend of the White Snake Lady.

The game, which lures players deep into the realms of Chinese mythology, is a simple slot designed to maximise enjoyment for new players. It has a Win All Ways feature, meaning the game has no pay lines and any combination of three or more subsequent symbols from left to right or right to left will win.

To increase the drama, the middle reel is the last to stop as players wait to see whether the symbols will connect.

Unique to the game is a feature where any five of a kind pays out at least 100 times the bet and 1,000 times the bet with the highest paying symbols. Since symbols can be aligned in any combination, these combinations will occur frequently, making them worth hunting for, the supplier said.

“We’re particularly proud of Legend of the White Snake Lady as it is a slot all about excitement,” said Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO of Yggdrasil. “With the mesmerising music and glorious graphics, this is a game which really is the stuff of legend.

“There is some genuine innovation when it comes to this slot and I’m sure it will be enjoyed by our loyal fan base.”

Atari Asteroids is the first release under the partnership between video games publisher Atari and gaming supplier Pariplay.

The instant win game is based on the 1979 space-themed video arcade game and was developed in HTML5 by Pariplay’s in-house studio.

Featuring first-person shooter functionality and HD graphics, players use laser canons to blast passing asteroids and reveal hidden gems. A nine-symbol action scratch game allows players to win jackpots of up to $100,000.

Atari Asteroids is the first Atari-branded instant-win game Pariplay’s in-house studio has developed under the partnership, which began in 2014.

“Our Atari-branded games are a key focus for our development studio, so we’re excited to bring to market a sophisticated, highly interactive instant-win title that’s based on such an iconic arcade game as Asteroids,” said Adrian Bailey, general manager at Pariplay.

“Atari Asteroids effectively balances the skill and entertainment focuses of the original arcade classic with the excitement of real-money iGaming, so it’s likely to become an important game in operators’ offerings in a range of markets.”

Bailey added that additional Atari-branded games are currently in development at Pariplay’s in-house studio. The Atari Star Raiders video slot is scheduled for release by the company in August.

“Online gambling is an integral part of our strategy,” said Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari. “Given Pariplay’s strong reputation in software development in the real-money iGaming space, we’re more than ever committed to this activity and we believe that, with the Atari brand and Atari games, we can definitely become a major player in the space.”

Connective Games

Connective Games has gone live with a new mobile version of Pineapple Open Face Chinese Poker (Pineapple OFC) with Russian online poker site Pokerdom.

The game was initially launched in March, with Connective Games recently introducing OFC free roll tournaments for Pokerdom players.

In Pineapple OFC, players take turns drawing cards from a single deck, trying to make the best possible hand. Unlike other poker games however, there are no bets placed during the rounds of play, instead the game is scored in points.

The goal of the three-player game is to achieve more points than your opponents by winning more hands and also by collecting royalties on premium hands. These are bonuses awarded along the way for special hand combinations.

“Mobile gaming is definitely the fastest growing sector in online gaming, and we have overcome many technical challenges to bring poker to mobile and make it as accessible and enjoyable as other platforms, such as developing the technology for multi-tabling,” said Connective Games CEO Serge Mukhanov.

“As specialist online poker game developers, we understand that the success of poker depends on viable mobile performance. So we are very pleased that this new variant can now be offered on multiple platforms.”

Nazim Izmaylov, managing director at Pokerdom, added: “Our Pineapple OCF games have received a great response from players. It’s a variant that has been only been in existence for a couple of years, but it’s gaining a lot of recognition and becoming increasingly popular.

“With the launch of the mobile app, we’re looking at dramatically expanding player liquidity for Pineapple OFC. Thanks to our close partnership with Connective Games, we’re able to use a flexible and scalable platform that can react quickly to trends within the poker world.”

Everi Holdings

US gaming supplier Everi is looking to bring the magic and comedy of Penn & Teller to casino floors with the release of a new themed slot game later this year at G2E Las Vegas.

The new game is one of several licensed games Everi plans to unveil during the show.

Las Vegas duo Penn and Teller have entertained audiences for decades with a mix of magic and comedy. The double-act at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino is currently the longest running headliner show in Las Vegas.

"Our game designers are focused on creating unique, engaging games that stand out from the competition to capture the attention of players and deliver great returns for our casino customers," said Michael Rumbolz, president and CEO of Everi.

"The new Penn & Teller game debuting at G2E 2016 marks the initial proof point in our initiative to leverage highly recognizable entertainment and consumer brands in the development of innovative games that translate the unique experiences these brands offer into exciting game play for the casino slot floor.

“As such, we are extremely pleased to partner with the amazing Penn & Teller on a game that will no doubt resonate with slot players when it debuts at casinos across the country.”

Rumbolz described Penn & Teller as cultural icons who for nearly four decades have created magical experiences infused with comedy to entertain fans around the world.

“Our game developers have captured the spirit of these Las Vegas legends in this truly special game,” he said.

Penn Jillette, half of the Penn & Teller team, added: "We are so thrilled to be working with Everi's creative, inventive team who are adding their own special brand of magic to this game.

"We thought that having a theatre named after us in Las Vegas was an honour, but it turns out that having our own slot machine is the ultimate honour."
