Toronto-listed supplier NYX Gaming has expanded into the newly regulated Romanian market following the launch of its Open Gaming System (OGS) with Amaya-owned PokerStars.

PokerStars.ro will feature a selection of games from NYX studios including NextGen Gaming titles Foxin’ Wins, Jackpot Jester 50,000, and branded title James Dean.

NYX Gaming’s commercial director David Johnson said that the move further expands the company’s global footprint in regulated markets, whilst cementing its strategy to expand relationships in regulated territories.

“It’s great to see that PokerStars.ro will launch in Romania with proven quality NextGen content,” he said. “This is further evidence of the strong relationship between NYX and PokerStars.”

PokerStars' parent company Rational Group secured a licence from Romanian regulator the National Gambling Office (ONJN) late last month, covering casino and poker as well as sports betting, under its BetStars brand.

Amaya’s director of casino Sam Hobcraft added: “We are pleased to have games from NYX on our new PokerStars.ro domain. The launch of a full license in Romania will aid our goal of assuming a leadership position in online casino across Europe.”

Shares in NYX Gaming Group Ltd (Co. Data) (CVE:NYX) closed down 1.32 per cent at CAD$2.25 per share in Toronto Friday.
