Playtech is embracing the FIFA World Cup with the release of a range of football-themed games and features across several key verticals, including a new slot game, themed live dealer rooms and poker mini-games.

The latest addition to Playtech's Sporting Legends series, Top Trumps Football Stars is based on the classic card game and allows players to choose which of 30 footballers they want to feature in the game.

The game also gives players a shot at the Sporting Legends guaranteed Daily and Weekly Jackpots, the as well as the progressive Mega Jackpot. Playtech is also offering a £250,000 promotion during the World Cup where players can win prizes in a weekly draw until July 15th.

The Top Trumps Football Stars game follows the launch of games based around jockey Frankie Dettori and snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan.

"Top Trumps has all the ingredients we were looking for in a football-themed brand, both in time for the World Cup and for the Sporting Legends suite long-term," said Playtech chief operating officer Shimon Akad. "We're sure players will enjoy being able to customise the gameplay with their favourite stars – and of course getting a shot at the Sporting Legends jackpots."

Playtech has also brought football fever to its live casino offering, with a dedicated football area featuring themed Roulette and Unlimited Blackjack tables. Dealers will provide live commentary on all matches, with a video wall displaying major game events and match statistics.

Players will also get the chance to test their sporting knowledge with Trivia Show Live, a new gameshow-style live casino segment presented by a live host before each World Cup match. It is a no-stake, free to enter quiz game that is built to engage sports fans with a chance to win a range of prizes.

Finally, Playtech has added to its poker tables with a new mission-based gamification tool, Poker Predictor. It gives players the chance to predict the scores in the big matches and accumulate points as they play. This then leads to the reward of either a Silver or Golden Spin of the prize wheel, with the supplier describing the Poker Predictor as an ideal cross-sell opportunity between sports betting and poker.

"The World Cup generates excitement worldwide like no other sporting event – and with our Football Experience area, fans don't have to choose between playing the tables and watching the match," Akad said. "With Trivia Show Live and Poker Predictor also creating the chance to win prizes – as well as delivering an excellent real-time engagement opportunity for our operators – players can enjoy all the excitement of the tournament as part of their gaming experience."
