Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator DraftKings has launched a new tennis product ahead of this year's Wimbledon Championships, which begins in London today (July 2nd).

Daily Fantasy Tennis gives players a USD$50,000 salary cap with which to draft a roster of six players, combining both men's and women's competitions. Points are scored based on female players' performance over three sets and five for men, with scoring based on match length.

"We have always prioritised offering the most compelling games across the widest array of sports," said DraftKings vice president of game operations and development Mark Nerenberg. "By expanding into tennis, we have an opportunity to provide a new and engaging experience for our current customer base while broadening our reach to attract tennis fans, globally.

"Over 25m people in the US alone tuned in to watch Wimbledon last year, and we want to be a part of that."

DraftKings added that due to the strong performance of niche sports on its platform, it expects to see huge user interest in Daily Fantasy Tennis.

The contests are made available to players in all territories in which DraftKings operates, with free-to-play variants also available in New York State.
