London-listed gaming solutions provider Playtech has paid out its biggest ever online casino jackpot in Spain to a Codere player.
The player won over €1.5m on Playtech’s Gladiator: Road to Rome slot, more than ten times the supplier’s previous biggest payout of €130,000 on its DC Superheroes Jackpot series in May.
Based on the Oscar-winning 2000 film, Gladiator: Road to Rome is Playtech’s sequel to the popular original Gladiator slot. The game’s Gladiator Bonus feature, triggered when Helmet bonus symbols appear simultaneously across reels two, three and four, presents players with nine Helmets, all worth different cash prize amounts. Any player lucky enough to land nine gold helmets triggers the progressive jackpot.
“Gladiator: Road to Rome has become one of Playtech’s most successful games and characters, and we’re delighted it has created Spain’s first casino jackpot millionaire,” said Playtech chief operating officer Shimon Akad. “Spain is a growing market with significant long-term potential and Codere is a key local partner for us, so it’s a great step forward to have awarded one of their players Spain’s biggest online gambling prize to date.
“With a portfolio of 80 progressive jackpot games and nearly €198m paid out in jackpot prizes worldwide in just a year, Playtech offers an unrivalled proposition for licensees looking to offer their players exciting gameplay and incredible win potential.”
Codere global brand and marketing director Ángel Fernández commented: “Everyone at Codere is very excited to have contributed to one of our clients achieving this win. Gladiator: Road to Rome is a hugely popular game for us, with the progressive jackpot proving a major draw. Many congratulations to our lucky client on their amazing win.”
