The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has filed a complaint with the French Council of State seeking to clarify the objectives of the country's highly contentious sports ownership right.
The ownership right requires bookmakers to seek permission from, and pay a fee to, the country’s sporting organisations in order to take bets on fixtures, with the fees generated from sports rights being used by sporting organisations for the detection and prevention of fraud.
