Illinois Senate President John Cullerton introduced amended legislation this week which he says will help keep Illinois at the forefront of internet gaming in the United States and immunize the state from the ill effects of “hostile federal legislation”.

In a letter to legislative leaders and state governor Pat Quinn earlier this week, Cullerton said it is imperative that the General Assembly act on this legislation before adjourning its Spring session, so as to protect the state from hostile federal legislation which would “preclude Illinois and other states from reaping the benefits of iGaming”.
