A number of U.S states are continuing to crack down on internet sweepstake cafés, with Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette this week issuing cease and desist letters to nine cafes which are alleged to be illegal gambling operations.

The letters come as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Michigan State Police, the Michigan Gaming Control Board and the Attorney General's office, and follows the closure of eight similar operations last month after an agreement with gaming software supplier Innovative Entertainment.
