Former licensed jockey Andrew Hefferman and eight other unlicensed individuals, including three British footballers, have been banned from horse racing by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) for a combined total of over seventy years.

All nine were charged last October with serious breaches of the Rules of Racing, with allegations focussing on horses being laid to lose on betting exchanges in races.
