New Jersey Senate president Steve Sweeney and Assembly speaker Sheila Oliver said Monday that they intend to adopt Governor Chris Christie’s proposed changes to the state’s online gaming legislation as quickly as possible so that internet gambling can be adopted in New Jersey.

The statement follows Governor Christie’s conditional veto of online gaming legislation last week, in which he called for a number of amendments to be made in order for him to sign the bill into law. These included an increase in the tax rate from 10 to 15 per cent and a 10-year ‘sunset clause’ on the legislation.
