The American Gaming Association said Wednesday that it applauds senate attention to the need for effective regulation of online gambling, as it called on lawmakers to act rapidly to ban online casino games and exclude bad actors from the American market.

In a statement following Wednesday's senate hearing on online gambling, the AGA said that "reports suggest that an alarming number of Americans spend billions of dollars annually on illegal Internet gambling made possible by foreign companies that fail to verify age and offer basic consumer protections".
