The Slovenian government has notified the European Commission (EC) of a new Gaming Act which is expected to come into force in the country in early 2014.

The Gaming Act will regulate both land-based and online gaming activities under concession from the Ministry of Finance, with one five-year sports betting concession available along with 30 casino games concessions, while the single lottery concession will be reserved for the Slovenian national lottery.

The Act also introduces ISP blacklisting and payment blocking measures against unlicensed operators together with substantial fines for breaching the new regulations.
