The Hesse Ministry of Interior and Sport has rejected all applications for Germany's 20 available sports betting licences, less than a week after saying there were no more barriers stopping it from issuing the licences.

The long-running process to issue federal sports betting licences under the 15-month old revised State Treaty on Gaming is now set to drag on into 2014 after the Ministry notified all applicants this week that none had complied with the minimum requirements for securing approval.
