The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a draft objection notice aiming to revoke two collective bargaining notifications lodged by operator association the Australian Wagering Council (AWC).

Last month, the AWC lodged a collective bargaining and collective boycott notification with the ACCC, Australia’s competition regulatory body. Under the notification, a business who lodges the Notifications will be granted immunity from legal action under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 if they are not objected to within 14 days of lodgment.

The AWC  (comprising operators bet365, Centrebet, Betstar, IASBet.com, Sportingbet, Sportsbet, Tomwaterhouse.com, Unibet and Betfair) had proposed to negotiate as a single entity for the terms on which the operators share wagering revenue and information with the country’s National Rugby League (NRL).
