A New York Assembly member has introduced a bill to implement a licensing system for certain interactive poker games, seeking to take advantage of recent court rulings in the state that have defined poker as a game of skill.

Democratic Assemblyman J. Gary Pretlow introduced Bill A09509 to amend New York’s racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding and penal laws in relation to allowing certain interactive poker games such as Texas Hold’Em and Omaha.

It is similar to a bill submitted last month in the New York Senate by John Bonacic.
