The disciplinary committee of the Ligue de football professionel (LFP), the organiser of France’s professional football leagues, has announced its first round of fines for a group of 87 players found to have breached its ban on betting.

Players have been hit with suspended bans, ordered to perform community service and handed fines of up to €1,500.

They were found to have breached Article 124 of the general regulations of the sport’s governing body, the Fédérational Française de Football (FFF), and regulation 407 of the LFP, after an investigation carried out in partnership with the French gambling regulator L’Autorité de régulation des jeux en ligne (ARJEL).
