Australia’s Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has initiated legal proceedings against bet365, alleging that the operator has made misleading claims in its advertising of free bets and deposit bonus promotions to customers.

The case will be heard before Justice Jonathan Beach next month on October 10th in the Federal Court of Australia, with the action taken against Hillside (Australia) New Media Pty Ltd, Hillside (New Media) Ltd and bet365 Group Ltd - all Australian subsidiaries of the Stoke-based operator.

The commission has accused the operator of giving customers the impression that they would receive up to AUD$200 in free bets or sign-up bonuses “without limitation or restriction.”
