The four major professional sports leagues and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) have begun legal action to stop New Jersey from launching sports betting this weekend, with a court hearing to be held this afternoon.

Monmouth Park is so far the only licensed casino or racetrack to publicly announce plans to launch sports betting after legislation was signed into law by Governor Chris Christie on Friday.

The racecourse plans to begin offering and accepting bets on sporting contests and athletic events at the racetrack on Sunday, with Senator Ray Lesniak hoping to be one of the first to take a bet.
