The Australian government is to establish a new national working group as it looks to push offshore unlicensed operators away from the country’s gaming market.

The Illegal Offshore Wagering Working Group will be established under the government’s Gambling Industry Advisory Council, and include representatives from the Australian racing industry alongside professional sports and betting organisations.

The working group will be tasked with providing recommendations through which the Australian federal government, state legislators, racing and sports bodies can minimise the threats of unlicensed offshore wagering.
