Three members of the New Jersey Assembly have proposed a constitutional amendment that would allow the Legislature to license new casinos in three counties, expanding the state casino industry beyond Atlantic City for the first time.

Assembly Democrats Ralph Caputo, Valerie Vainieri Huttle and Raj Mukherji have introduced legislation to allow the state to pass laws that would establish three casinos in each of Bergen, Essex and Hudson counties, all in North Jersey.
