Romanian regulator the National Office for Gambling (ONJN) has said that it will pursue its claim for back taxes from all operators that have been active in the country’s iGaming market in recent years, including those that have subsequently withdrawn from the market.

In a detailed explanation of the decision to pursue back tax claims, ONJN president Cristinella Odeta Nestor said that even though certain operators have now ceased their Romanian operations, this does not exonerate them for their past activity, adding that the regulator will work with other authorities to take action against such companies.
