The Green Party in the German state of Hesse has become the latest body to speak out in favour of changes to the controversial State Treaty on Gambling, urging that the limit on the number of licences be lifted.

The Greens explained that they believed access to the sports betting market should be determined by the quality of the service applicants could offer, and not “by an arbitrarily set number of bookmakers.”
