The Deutscher Lottoverband, Germany’s industry body for private lottery operators and agents, has called for major changes to the country’s regulatory framework and an end to the dominance of the state lotteries following the European Commission’s criticism of the current system.

The association has spoken out following the EC’s stinging criticism of German gaming legislation, which described the stringent controls on lottery sales to be “incomprehensible” considering the low risk of addiction.
