California lawmakers are to consider the prospect of a regulated online fantasy sports market after legislation was amended last week and re-referred to the state’s Committee on Governmental Organization.

The Internet Fantasy Sports Games Consumer Protection Act (AB1437) would create a licensing and regulatory framework for online fantasy sports games. It was first introduced by Assemblyman Adam Gray in February, alongside a bill to regulate sports betting in the state, which was also amended and re-referred to the committee on September 11th.
