South Australia’s Independent Gambling Authority (IGA) has proposed new regulations to stamp out poor gambling practices by online sports betting operators, with companies in breach of the controls liable to fines of up to AUD$100,000.

The IGA aims to change the state’s Gambling Codes of Practice to ban operators from offering unsolicited credit (such as free bets or bonuses) for gambling, with credit to only be offered following a thorough due diligence process. Operators will also be required to process withdrawals immediately.
