Florida could become the next US state to legalise daily fantasy sports (DFS) contests after the state's House of Representatives and Senate voted in favour of bills to legalise the product.

Bill HB 707, co-sponsored by Don Gaetz and Ritch Workman, was passed by the House Finance and Tax Committee, while SB 823, introduced by Republican Joe Negron, was approved by the Senate Regulated Industries Committee with eight votes in favour and two against, moving each closer to passing into law.
