Greece’s Stoiximan has become the latest gaming operator to join ESSA, the regulated betting industry’s integrity body.

The company is the third betting operator to join in 2016, taking ESSA's membership to 21 and extending the coverage of its betting integrity alert and reporting system.

Stoiximan is one of the leading operators in Greece's regulated sports betting market and has recently expanded into Romania under the Betano brand.

It is the main shirt sponsor of Greek football champions Olympiacos FC, and the Greek national volleyball and water polo teams, among others. It also supports several athletes who are members of the Greek Rio 2016 Olympic Games Team and provides sponsorship to the International Olympic Academy (IOA).

“Stoiximan has quickly established itself as a major player in Greece and has built a positive and mutually beneficial commercial relationship with sports bodies,” said Khalid Ali, secretary general of ESSA.

“The operator is intent on complementing that with a committed and responsible attitude to protecting the integrity of all sporting events. I am delighted that Stoiximan has agreed to become part of a growing and influential ESSA structure.”

Ioannis Spanoudakis, a member of Stoiximan’s board, said: “Sports betting is a central part of our business and sporting corruption represents an ongoing threat to it. We believe that it is important that betting operators not only take a stand against corruption individually, but also collectively and in partnership.

“Being part of ESSA with a recognised global reach, effective alert system and committed members and integrity partners is the right business move for Stoiximan, our consumers and sport.”
