The UK Gambling Commission has said that it is unable to confirm the status of customer funds held by gaming operator Smart TV Broadcasting, following its decision to suspend the operator's licence.

The British gambling regulator suspended the company's licence, pending a review of the business, because it "suspects that Smart TV Broadcasting Limited ... is unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities".

Smart TV Broadcasting operates a number of sites, including, under UK and Maltese licences. As of August 8th, its Maltese licence remains active.

The licence suspension is an interim measure, which the Gambling Commission said would be kept under review.

In the meantime, it has advised that the company is authorised to settle any outstanding winning bets and return any outstanding balances to customers.

The Commission added that it is aware of customers who have outstanding balances in their accounts with the operator, but said that "regrettably, at this point we have no further information on the position of customer funds".
