Amaya's PokerStars has secured a licence in Portugal's regulated online gambling market, making it the fourth licensed operator in the country.

Amaya's Reel Europe subsidiary has been licensed by the Portuguese gambling regulator Comissão de Jogos to operate under the domain.

This sees PokerStars join three other operators already live in the market. Betclic Everest Group has been awarded licences for sports betting and slots, the first operator to re-enter the market in May this year and the highest-profile existing licensee.

It was joined by the SBTech-powered Bet Entertainment Technologies, which secured a sportsbook licence for its brand in June.

Land-based casino operator Sociedade de Investimentos Turísticos da Costa Verde (Solverde), has also had its NYX-powered casino offering certified.

PokerStars has been awarded licences to offer poker tournaments, Omaha and Texas Hold'Em cash games as well as blackjack and French roulette, strengthening the operator's regulated footprint.

Shares in Amaya Inc (Co.Data) (TSX:AYA) closed down 0.50 per cent at CAD$20.00 per share in Toronto Monday.
