New York State Senator John Bonacic has introduced legislation to legalise online poker in the state, despite failing with a similar measure last year.

Bonacic’s previous bill had passed a full Senate vote in June but the failure of a companion bill to gain approval in the Assembly brought an end to the effort.

His latest bill, S3898, aims to amend the state’s racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law and the penal law to allow certain interactive poker games to be considered games of skill rather than games of luck.
