Betting integrity body ESSA has reported total of 130 cases of suspicious betting activity during 2016, an increase of 30 per cent from the previous year, although this was partly attributable to six new operators joining the association and the signing of new information sharing agreements during the year.

Tennis generated the majority of suspicious betting alerts, with 103 cases being reported to the Tennis Integrity Unit, followed by football with 16 cases reported to the relevant governing body.
