The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has issued an opinion in favour of operator Unibet after finding that Hungary's online gambling legislation was incompatible with the EU's freedom to provide services.

The case relates to a request for a preliminary ruling from the Budapest Administrative and Labour Court in Hungary.

It concerned two administrative decisions made by the Hungarian authorities to block access to Unibet's sites in the country, with the operator having offered online games of chance in Hungary without having obtained a licence.
