The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has begun an investigation to assess whether measures taken by online gaming operator 888 comply with the social responsibility requirements set out in its licensing conditions, with the company's share price dropping almost 10 per cent following the announcement.

An unnamed subsidiary of London-listed operator 888 Holdings is under investigation for the measures employed to ensure its customers are handled in a socially responsible manner.
