New York Senate votes through internet poker legislation

The New York Senate has voted in favour of amended legislation to legalise online poker in the state.

Senators voted 53-9 in favour of the bill to authorise interactive games of Texas Hold'em and Omaha Hold'em poker, including the recently introduced amendment to exclude so-called 'bad actors' from the market - those that accepted bets in the United States after the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in 2006.
