Kindred Group-owned operator Stan James Online has agreed to pay a penalty package of £80,000 following an investigation by the UK Gambling Commission into its anti-money laundering and social responsibility processes.

The Commission commenced a regulatory investigation in March after receiving a police report regarding an individual who was convicted of stealing from his employer.

The customer deposited some of the proceeds of his crimes with the Stan James Online website between November 2014 and October 2016, losing a total of £40,000 with the operator.

Commission enquiries revealed that during this time the operator failed to spot problem gambling behaviour and failed to comply with financial requirements aimed at preventing money laundering.
