A bill to establish historical horse races as a form of racing open to wagering has progressed in the US state of Virginia, with the House of Representatives voting 79-21 in favour of the legislation.

The bill seeks to amend certain sections of the Code of Virginia relating to horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering, defining historical horse racing as a form of racing that creates pari-mutuel pools from wagers placed on previously conducted races.
